Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) in Travel and Tourism
Mont Rose College of Management and Sciences offers this course with the approval of Pearson BTEC. The Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Travel and Tourism  provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the hospitality industry and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units.
Awarding Body: Mont Rose College Pearson Edexcel was formed in 1996 by the merger of the Business & Technology Education Council (BTEC), the country’s leading provider of vocational qualifications, and the University of London Examinations & Assessment Council (ULEAC), one of the major exam boards for GCSEs and A levels.
 Level of Course:  HND is a Level 5 qualification
 Number of Credit Hours: Upon the successful completion of HNC course the student will complete 240 + Credit Hours
 Study Mode: Full-time
 Attendance The full-time student are required to attend 15-18 Hours per week term time
 Workload: We recommend an average of 8-10 hours study time per week for this programme at home
 Exemptions: No exemptions are allowed for this programme.

Entry Requirements: Mont Rose College recruits students of outstanding achievement from all educational backgrounds. Previous exam results are the main criteria for admission to Mont Rose College. International students also need to show English language competency in order to secure admission. The following criteria must be met in order to secure admission at Mont Rose College. A level pass or equivalent Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) B1 and above in reading, writing, speaking and listening / proof of English competence
International Students must have an English test approved by UKBA Applicants whose educational qualifications do not meet the entry requirement of Mont Rose College will be considered for admissions if they have two years or above full time work experience.
Mature Learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience (paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in their work sector.
Restrictions on Learner Entry: The Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications are accredited on The Qualifications and Credit Framework for learners aged 18 years and over.

Total Course Duration: Higher National Diploma course duration is 2 years
Progression Route on completion: The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Travel and Tourism offers a progression route for learners who are employed in the hospitality industry. Peason BTEC Level 5 HND in Travel and Tourism is particularly useful for learners who wish to progress to a Bachelors Degree.
Awarding Body Membership Fee: The Pearson fee for HND Membership is £182.60* to be paid by the candidate to the college on enrolment.This fee is excluded from tuition fee.
Re-assessment Fee: For each assignment re-assessment, the reassessment  fee will be £40*. *Acurate at the time of publication. Disclaimer: subject to change
Assessment: Each unit requires two pieces of assessed work:
  • An examination, which is internally marked and may be sampled by Pearson Edexcel
  • An assignment, which is internally marked by the College.
Both pieces of assessed work are marked out of 100 and both pieces of assessed work carry equal weighting. Students will be given a mark each time a piece of work is assessed. To pass the unit requires a pass mark of 40% or above in both pieces of assessed work. For example, achieving a mark of 70% in one piece of work and 35% in the other will not qualify for a pass in the unit. When a student has passed both pieces of assessed work (i.e. examination and assignment), he or she will be issued with a final grade, which will be issued on the average of the two marks.
