NHS Registration

As a newly arrived student, you need to find a GP surgery near where you live. You must contact them in the first week of your arrival on this address since the registering procedure takes a couple of days. Once you have explained you want to get registered, they will give you a form to fill with your details:
  • your name and address
  • your date of birth
  • other information, such as the name and address of your previous GP(if you had one)
Some GP surgeries will also ask to see proof of your identity such as passport or driving license or recent utility bill ( council tax bill, electricity or a phone bill) When you have that form ready, you need to wait a couple of days until your registration is complete.

Dentist & Emergency contact number

You do not need to be registered with a dentist in order to book an appointment. The easiest way to find a dentist is to look in you local area and make sure the dental practice provides NHS care. Call the practice and simply book your appointment. Sometimes you need to wait a couple of days for an appointment, it depends on where your dentist is located and how busy is the practice at that particular time.

In UK, European Union, Switzerland and other countries emergency number “112” was introduced in the 1990s. In case of any emergency, please dial “112”.
